Three topics of research on energy from salinity gradient of oceans.

Power generation from Salinity Gradient is a new topic of research that is steadily attracting interest from the researchers of renewable energy. The scarcity and rising demand for conventional fuels have also aggravated the importance of alternative sources of energy where power from salinity gradient or Blue Energy can be a useful solution. As the topic is new and mostly unexplored, doing research in this aspect, have a very high potential.  Research ideas like : 1) Cost Minimization of Power Extraction from Saline Water Gradient-based Power Plants by Nature Based Optimization Techniques The first objective of the work will be to identify parameters/s, which contribute towards the total expenditure for the installation of Salinity Gradient-based power plants. After all the settings were defined, and the significance of the weights of the parameters is determined, the next step will be to formulate the indicator in such a manner that it becomes directly proportional to the ...

New Research Idea : Selection of Conceptual Hydrologic Models for Estimating Runoff from Arid Watersheds

New Research Idea Abstract The selection of ideal conceptual hydrologic model for prediction of surface runoff from any type of watershed is useful for the estimation of future hydrologic conditions of the basin. The predicted runoff is also important for design of hydraulic structure, preparation of watershed management plans ,disaster management etc. related activities. The future runoff will give an idea of future uncertainties that may trouble the watershed and its inhabitants. The hydrologic models which follows the basic physical laws of water balance to estimate the desired output cannot exactly estimate the runoff. There will be some differences with the actual situation and the predicted one.The deviations between the two is allowable but to a certain extent. There are many factors for this deviation. Some models are suitable for some specific types of watersheds. The availability of required dataset is also another important issue. The equalizing constants that are used to linearize...

Idea : Selection of Performance Metrics for detection of Error in Spatial Prediction Models of Hydrology

Idea : Selection of Performance Metrics for detection of Error in Spatial Prediction Models of Hydrology The spatial or distributed prediction models are widely used in hydrology. The performance metrics of such models must be carefully selected keeping in view of the characteristics of errors involved in spatial models. The Multi Criteria Decision Making methods may be followed to select suitable performance metrics for representing the errors of spatial models. The metrics can be evaluated with the help of various criterias. Then concepts like AHP or Fuzzy may be utilized to identify the better metrics according to the need of the user. Tools Utilized : AHP and Fuzzy Decision Making Keywords : spatial models, performance metrics, distributed hydrologic models,AHP,fuzzy.
