WASH Capacity Building Expert (Technical) ā€“ Urban Practitionersā€™ Programme (UPP) The Urban Practitioners' Programme (UPP) is a training and capacity-building programme for urban practitioners from the public, private, academic, and civil society sectors. The IIHS believes that a city's transformation is largely dependent on the collaborative efforts of practitioners who confront challenges in an informed, reflexive, and creative manner. The UPP provides institutions and practitioners with new knowledge frameworks that are supported by a cohesive set of skills. Our portfolio spans sectors, disciplines, and practise scales, and we aim to intervene at three levels: Strategic perspectives and orientation of the practitioner to urban challenges; Knowledge frameworks used to assess such challenges; Execution skills to address them effectively and sustainably. The International Water Management Institute is looking for a creative Spatial Data Scientist to work in its Addis Ababa, Ethiopia office.
Under the supervision of the Country Representative - Ethiopia, the Spatial Data Scientist will support research in the areas of collection, compilation, processing, evaluation, interpretation, generation, maintenance, and distribution of spatial information (including remotely sensed data and GIS information layers) relevant to the various research projects undertaken by the IWMI East Africa Office. Furthermore, the Expert will contribute to the development of an IWMI-wide expertise and datasets based on remote sensing. Programme Officer for Climate Change Programme Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is a public interest research and advocacy organisation based in New Delhi. CSE researches into, advocates for and communicates the urgency of development that is both sustainable and equitable.CSEā€™s Climate Change Programme is committed to championing the study of the most pressing issues related to the climate crisis, through the lens of equity and common but differentiated responsibility. CSEā€™s presence at UNFCCC proceedings such as COP summits and Subsidiary Body meetings, public outreach and advocacy, media engagement and training programmes are designed to create multipliers in society for climate action.

Five ideas to open startups in water filter industry

Below are five innovative startup ideas related to water filters: 1. Develop an app or device that can monitor the water filter candles and provide notifications to the user when maintenance or replacement is required. This could help homeowners keep track of the health of their water filter and ensure that it's functioning optimally at all times. 2. Create an in-situ water quality monitoring device and app for home water filters. This device would provide users with real-time information about the quality of their water and identify any potential issues that need to be addressed. This could be especially helpful for homeowners who rely on well water or live in areas with poor water quality. 3. Reuse wastewater from reverse osmosis filters by channeling it through a gravity filter. This would allow homeowners to save money on their water bills and reduce their environmental footprint by reusing water that would otherwise go to waste. 4. Design an in-situ energy monitoring device ...

Five Models Traditionally Used For Electrical Load Predictions : Issue 1 of WENexus Letters

Load forecasting is a technique used by power companies to predict the power or energy needed to balance the supply and load demand at all times. A load model is a mathematical representation of the relation between the demand and supply of power to a system, specifically, power generating units like thermal or hydropower plant. Based on the forecasted load, the mechanism to generate power is adjusted. This way power plant conserves the fuel used in power generation and also minimize the cost of running the plant(i.e., operational cost). This edition of WENexus Letters is dedicated to 'load prediction models' which are extremely important for sustaining the profitability of any type of power plant.
